Date of Publication: October 12, 2026
Public Domain Nation #2 continues Bram Stoker’s Dracula as Jonathan Harker enters the Count’s castle to help arrange his move to England. Dracula offers fine meals, comfortable rooms, and long conversations beside the fire, but his hospitality conceals an increasingly disturbing reality. There are no servants, Jonathan never sees his host eat, and the Count’s knowledge of ancient battles sounds suspiciously like personal memory.
While shaving, Jonathan discovers that Dracula casts no reflection. A small cut provokes a violent response, stopped only when the Count encounters Jonathan’s crucifix. Dracula destroys the mirror and resumes his courteous manner, leaving Jonathan to confront the danger beneath it.
Exploring the castle, Jonathan finds locked doors and sheer drops where escape should be. He realizes he is a prisoner and resolves to hide his suspicions. Dracula tightens his control, insisting that Jonathan remain another month and write reassuring letters home. Jonathan complies while seeking clues to the Count’s plans and preserving the truth in shorthand.
One night, Jonathan watches Dracula crawl headfirst down the castle wall. With his host gone, he searches for a way out and discovers an unfamiliar chamber. Exhausted and defiant of Dracula’s warning against sleeping elsewhere in the castle, he settles onto a couch—unaware that three vampire brides are watching him.
Their arrival overwhelms his senses, replacing the room with a sprawling night sky. Fear mingles with attraction as the blonde bride bends toward his throat. Before she can bite, Dracula seizes her, shattering the illusion. His intervention offers no reassurance: he declares that Jonathan belongs to him and promises the women their turn when his own business is finished.
The Count provides a sack instead. A faint cry from within reveals the terrible nature of his offering without exposing its contents. As the brides gather around it and then fade from Jonathan’s sight, his remaining strength gives way. The issue closes on his loss of consciousness, still trapped among monsters whose intentions he cannot escape.
